You are constantly planning on eventualities of death and trying to make a compromise between challenge and risk. ![]() Hardcore opens up a surprisingly deep meta game to diablo 3. I only realized the depth and diversity of builds and skills because the deaths of my characters made my mindset more open. It is surprising that losing a character is painful at first, but then you realize that that just opened up a lot of opportunities because you were too focused on one build with one character. It is an experience that cuts deep the first time but gets better after you realize that getting the second character to where the first one was is much quicker than doing it for the first time, because of the learning experience. I have stories to tell about each of those deaths. ![]() Let me share some realizations I've had.įirst of all, I've lost a few characters: a wizard with the season journey set, a crusader and a barb. I have been playing hardcore for two weeks now, after having played normal diablo 3 a year ago or so before putting it down because I didn't find the excitement in the game. I feel like not many people appreciate the fun that hardcore brings to the game.
